Exhibit Open House on August 24 Invites Visitors to Find Out How They Can Help
(PORTLAND, ORE.—August 14, 2008) Dwindling resources are a common theme of today’s global society. Lack of food, clean water and health care continues to plague billions. But how can one person make a difference in these difficult circumstances and challenging times?
Medical Teams International’s REAL. LIFE. Exhibit urges visitors to explore ways they can, indeed, make a difference. Nine multi-sensory vignettes depict scenes of disaster, conflict and poverty around the world. From war-torn Uganda to tsunami-struck East Asia, sounds, pictures and stories inform visitors that the world is a big place, with big needs—needs that are best addressed by the global community.
Every person, even young students, can raise awareness, assist a neighbor, contribute resources. As a recent teacher wrote, “I have been taking students on field trips for more than a decade and I have never had an experience like this one. Not only did the students get a powerful glimpse of what real life is like in many places around the world, but they could also see concrete ways to help.”
Nearly 21,000 people have visited the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit, including international students, business and community leaders, and humanitarian aid workers.
