Rajan Zed, aH indu and Indo-American statesman , is traveling across America to recite invocation prayers at State Legislatures. Zed has been reading from the Hindu sacred texts of *Rig-Veda* *Upanishads *and *Bhagavad-Gita* In addition to reaching the Oregon State Legislature (both House and Senate) he has also given an invocation in the Colorado General Assembly and the Indiana State Senate. More infor here.
What happened to the separation of church and state or does that only apply to Christians?
A person cannot give an invocation without a Lawmaker’s permission or sponsorship. Rest assured it doesn’t cost to do a prayer in Oregon.
It cost Oregon if we do not pray though, if you get my drift.
If anyone is upset about the Hindu prayer how come nobody seems to know that the Legislature usually opens with a Christian prayer offered by a Christian pastor?? In fact, the Legislature often has to beat the bushes (as the Session goes on) to find clergy (of all traditions) who are willing to come. People should be informed before being critics. It is totally appropriate for prayer to be offered in the Statehouse, and it happens every day. All the time. Thanks be to Christ, Sam in Salem
Whatever happened to the separation of church and state, or is that just the separation of Christianity and state?

When the article says the reading was “sponsored” by Sen. Winters and Rep. Berger does that mean they paid for it, or are we talking about funding another feel good item with all of our excess state revenues?
