[5]Multnomah University News [6],

On April 21, the Kigali Kollection Committee successfully collected its goal of 4,018 books for Kigali Bible College in Kigali, Rwanda.  What Is the Kigali Kollection? In the summer of 2008, Africa New Life Ministries [7] (founded by Multnomah Biblical Seminary graduate Charles Burgeya) was awarded a grant to start a Bible training school. Upon hearing the news, a group of Multnomah students pulled together to create a library for the school-the largest theological library in Rwanda.

The Kigali Kollection started off with a goal of collecting 2,009 different Bible, theology, and Christian books by graduation day on May 15. The book drive received an overwhelming response, and on March 27, the final book was recorded. After much prayer and discussion, the committee decided to double the goal. Now that the new goal of 4,018 has been met, a new goal of 5,000 books will replace it.

Student Participation

Multnomah students are given the following options to participate in this exciting effort:

1. Donator: Each student donates two books; each faculty donates four (or more).
2. Book Kollector: Individuals at different churches who collect book donations.
3. Book Recorder: People who look through and catalog the donated books.
4. Finance Giver: Give $1 at each SWOT chapel; give a one-time offering; or be a “BOB” giver (Buck-one-book:meaning students give $1 to choose from a selection of books to donate to the collection.

Quotes

“Right now we need finances to buy more books and more Portland churches to collect books from members,” Dr. Garry Friesen, a faculty advisor of the Kigali Kollection Committee said. “God is moving quickly, and we are just holding on for life and for Rwanda.”
