No data has been presented to show that presumption to be factual. I believe that religious folk would not appreciate being termed the "unenlightened." In most usages the prefix "un" carries a faintly pejorative implication, and I believe that is true also in the term "unchurched." In other areas, we are more sensitive and do not refer to the "unwhite" the "undemocrats" etc. The term “unchurched” is a misnomer because it implies that those not belonging to a church previously did so.
