University of Portland theology professor Rebecca Gaudino will present the lecture “Is It Getting Harder to Die These Days?: A 21st Century Art of Dying” as part of the University’s Theology Thursday lecture series. The lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in Room 163 of Buckley Center on campus, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. The lecture series is free and open to the public.
Gaudino’s lecture will focus on how death is perceived in today’s world. She will discuss how death was a familiar and accepted part of life during the Middle Ages but is now a feared part of life. The lecture asks “Can we learn from Christians of the past how to meet death better?”
A round table discussion will follow the lecture.
