[5]Herman Cain, like many politicians, uses God in his resignation speech

The more politicians get closer to power, the more they invoke themselves. The closer politicians get to falling out of power they mention God. Herman Cain announced his painful resignation after the mounting number of women accused him of sexual harassment and affairs. Herman Cain’s resignation came cloaked with the Almighty. Herman Cain said, “I am at peace with my God. I am at peace with my wife and she is at peace with me. And I am peace with my family and I’m at peace with myself. As of today with a lot of prayer and soul searching I am suspending my presidential campaign..” In addition to Cain, another speaker on stage, Dr. Alveda King (niece of Martin Luther King Jr.) reminded everyone that “We are so blessed to have this man.”
Why all the outpouring of spirituality now? The way the public will read it is that it is another politician using God’s name as a shield. Just like Governor of South Carolina did on his adultery press conference. The public would like to give Herman Cain the benefit of the doubt, but look at the facts. Two former women employees had legal financial settlements and the third woman who claimed an affair was paid by Cain many years (unknowing to anyone including his wife). Either Herman Cain is among the most falsely charged men in America or he may have lied somewhere along the way. How could the public not perceive this incident as abusing God’s name in order to protect your own? If that is the case it is better to just stand on your own. If Cain did make mistakes and admitted to it at the press conference, then by all means, mention God all you want — then people associate God with honesty and humility. With Cain, I saw neither but defiance.
Unlike other politicians when it comes to utilizing God, Cain knows better as he an associate minister at Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta. Then again, this type of politico-religious mistake was done previously on the campaign when Cain said he wouldn’t hire a Muslim to serve on his cabinet. This statement he later retracted [6] or clarified or whatever you call it.
Nonetheless I wish him and all involved well. Bur for Cain, he first must learn to step outside the political bubble.
