The Beaverton Religion Forum [7] is returning to Evergreen’s fall schedule.

We are hoping to expand beyond our discussions with our atheist and agnostic neighbors to include the Bahai, Ananda, and once again, the Islamic Center of Portland. We hope to discuss with the Bahai, “What is Prayer?” With Ananda, rich in the practice of eastern meditation, we would like to discuss, “What is Meditation?” And with our friends at the Islamic Center, we would discuss, “How do you worship?”

On Sunday, October 21 at 5:00 p.m. Evergreen will meet to discuss the purpose of the Beaverton Religion Forum [7], which is to create space for neighbors to present their faith and practice, highlighting distinctives in a peaceful manner. We do not aim to reduce all religions or views to “we basically believe and do the same things,” but rather come to an understanding of differing views and practices. Pastor Nathan Lewis will provide some training in apologetics through asking questions, engaging in conversations and building friendships with neighbors.

This meeting will be followed by three Sunday evening forums with the proposed groups or others in Beaverton who are able and willing to participate. Mark your calendars and be ready “to give a reason for the hope that is in you.”

We are planning another meeting in December with Bernie Dehler and the Westside Science and Religion Discussion Group.
