In a blow to low income families struggling in a down economy is the latest news that Oregon ranks third as the most expensive day care. Studies show that such families spend more money on child care than on rent! Consider that high cost news when you factor in that Oregon has among the nation’s highest income tax and in 2012 we are experiencing some of the nation’s highest gas p[rice [6]. Oregon also this year tied Arizona [7] as the nation’s top hunger state for children. The combined results that this state has great obstacles in raising children.
