[5]Oregonians Rank 20th in Charitable Giving

Oregon ranks No. 20 out of 50 states in charitable giving, according to a new study by The Chronicle of Philanthropy [6]. Average contributions of discretionary spending is 4.6 percent and 34 percent of Oregonians volunteer. Portland ranked No. 25 out of 50 in giving among the nation’s 50 largest metropolitan areas.
Utah ranked No. 1 in giving (10.6 percent) and volunteering (45 percent of population). Salt Lake City also leads the largest metropolitan cities in generosity. Mississippi ranks No.2 in giving at 7.2 percent of discretionary income. Nebraska ranked No.2 in volunteerism.
