It will take a little more time to organize a mass display of the Cross of Christ in the Rose City.

A report in Christian News Northwest’s December issue outlined how the Jesus Experiment Cross Walk, an event featuring 3,000 people carrying 1,000 crosses through the core of Portland, was scheduled for Saturday, March 30 — the day before Easter.

But the event’s steering committee decided last month to delay the event until Saturday, April 14, 2014. That will allow more time for the logistical planning, fundraising and other tasks involved in staging such a major event.

Promoted by nationally popular Christian author Bill Perkins of West Linn, whose most recent book is The Jesus Experiment, the walk would follow a route from the Oregon Convention Center to Pioneer Courthouse Square. It would then culiminate there with music, speakers and prayer for spiritual revival in the city, Northwest and nation.
