George Fox named a Princeton Review ‘Best in the West’ school for 10th straight year
Rankings consider academic, quality of life, admissions selectivity and financial aid
For a 10th consecutive year, The Princeton Review has honored George Fox University as one of its “Best in the West” schools in its “2014 Best Colleges: Region by Region” edition posted on princetonreview.com.
George Fox, a nationally recognized Christian college in Oregon, is one of 122 colleges and universities listed from the western states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
The Princeton Review rankings consider academics, quality of life, admissions selectivity and financial aid. George Fox received a score of 86 out of 99 in academics, an 87 out of 99 in quality of campus life, an 85 out of 99 in financial aid, and a 75 out of 99 in admissions selectivity.
George Fox students were invited to participate in an online survey hosted by the organization. They were asked to voice their opinions about the university, with questions in each category. Their comments and the George Fox profile are available at princetonreview.com.
The Princeton Review divided the country into four regions and identified 644 colleges that stand out as academically excellent institutions of higher learning. In addition to the 125 named in the West, the selections include 225 colleges in the Northeast, 138 in the Southeast and 156 in the Midwest. A listing of the schools is available at the Princeton Review’s regional colleges site. The 644 colleges named “regional bests” represent only about 25 percent of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges.
The schools were chosen based on institutional data collected from several hundred schools in each region, visits to schools over the years, and the opinions of independent and high school-based college advisors whose recommendations The Princeton Review invites. Also taken into account is what each school’s customers – their students – report to The Princeton Review about their campus experiences through a student survey.
With more than 165 print and digital publications and a free website (princetonreview.com), The Princeton Review provides students and their parents with the resources to research, apply to, prepare for, and learn how to pay for higher education. George Fox University is ranked by Forbes among the top Christian universities in the country and is a Christian college classified by U.S. News & World Report as a first-tier regional university.
