On November 7, one of the worst typhoons in history hit the Philippines with flooding and landslides. Rescue workers have confirmed more than 1,000 people dead, with numbers expected to grow. Our local partner agency, Kaisahang Buhay Foundation (KBF), has worked quickly to ensure the safety of children and families at our project sites. While we wait to reestablish communications with two of our partnering care centers, we have confirmed that most of the families and children in our programs are safe.

We are praying for the Philippines, and ask our Holt family and friends to do the same. We will share more news as it comes in.

Although Holt is not a relief organization, we would like to send what immediate assistance we can. You can help provide relief for the children and families affected by Typhoon Haiyan by donating to the Philippines Relief Fund today. Although the extent of the damage to Holt facilities, childcare centers and the homes of families in Holt programs has yet to be assessed, 100 percent of your donation will go directly to our partner, KBF, to use where most needed —providing food, water and safety to these children and families until rebuilding can begin.

For sponsors concerned about their sponsored child, please contact Sharon Grant at [email protected] [5] or Susan Lofton at [email protected] [6]. Families in the process of adopting from the Philippines should contact their social worker.
