christian-chamber [5]Christian Chamber Northwest – Greater Portland “Lunch & Learn”!
Wed., Feb. 19, 11:30 AM – 1:15 PM
Hayden’s Lakefront Grill

Religious beliefs are increasingly becoming issues in the workplace.

– Is it illegal, for example, for a company owner or supervisor to discuss his religious beliefs with a subordinate employee?

– Can your business hold voluntary bible studies for its employees?

– What happens when an employee’s religious beliefs and practices conflict with the demands of her job?

– Can your company legally refuse to do business with a customer whose religious beliefs (or lifestyle) conflict with yours?

Our special guest speaker for February is lawyer Dave Riewald of Bullard Law. Dave has specialized in labor and employment law for over 30 years, and he will answer these and other questions relating to religion in the workplace.

Dave’s practice focuses on advising employers and management personnel on how to avoid employment lawsuits, and on defending them in court if they do become caught up in those lawsuits. Dave has been recognized by his peers in The Best Lawyers in America® and in SuperLawyers for his work in the area of management-side labor and employment law.

Dave has served as an adjunct professor of employment discrimination law at Willamette University’s School of Law, and has published and given numerous presentations on employment law-related issues. In the community, he is a panel member for a local Youth Diversion Program that seeks to prevent youth from becoming repeat criminal offenders. Dave also is on the board of Birch Community Services and the Wilsonville Basketball Association, and he attends Grace Chapel in Wilsonville.
