By Faith News Note:

The Tigard-Tualatin School district is considering programs involving providing contraceptives to students.   The Tigard-Tualatin School Board will be discussing this issue on tonight’s agenda [5] (Monday January 8th).   Provided for the agenda discussion is this 21-page information packet [6] by the Oregon Health Authority on School Health Clinics and information surrounding parental consent.   The information packet goes into great detail about how complex this issue is for schools.

The issue likely to be discussed is whether school clinics can provide contraceptives to students with or without parental consent which is an on-going debate in schools across the country.   Parents and citizens who live in the Tigard-Tualatin School District who care about this issue are encouraged to attend.   The School Board Meetings are open to the public.
