Second full-page Christian ad debuts

By M. Martin,

In the Sunday Oregonian, December 23 2018, the second full page Christian ad of the year made its appearance.  This ad featuring a Nativity scene of Jesus in manager along with the messiah Bible verse Isaiah 9:6 was placed by Hobby Lobby stores which recently began opening stores in Oregon.  These ads are rolled out nationwide and can be seen here [5].

The ad encourages people to learn more about Jesus Christ by going to a website chataboutjesus.com. [6] The website allows readers to connect with someone via phone call or web chatting to answer questions about who is Jesus Christ.

The fist full-page of the year came during the Fourth of July which then brought a counter-ad by the atheists group Freedom from Religion (see article Oregon Ad Battle: Atheist vs. Hobby Lobby [7]).

To see a full size newspaper ad during Christmas representing a faith message is a welcome site. This beautiful ad is in contrast to the large volume of commercial advertisements that are pouncing to get your attention for Christmas gift shopping.

Here is the Bible verse quoted in the full-page Hobby Lobby ad:

“For a child is born to us, A son is given to us; And the government Is upon His shoulder; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6.
