A man is accused [6] of attacking a Christian woman in Southeast Portland because of her faith and attributed her injuries to evil burning from the inside. The suspect, 32-year-old Mahamat Noh, a Muslim, denies attacking the woman but faces charges of menacing, harassment, and first- and second-degree bias crimes. He is accused of grasping her arm when she tried to leave the apartment he shared with her boyfriend, grabbing her neck, and pushing her against the wall before she wrestled him to the ground. The accusser told police she is a Christian and wore a cross necklace, for which she says that it triggered the 32-year-old Mahamat Noh. Her statement said that Noh began reciting several verses from the Quran. To this she replied, “God has my back.” Noh then responded, “**** your God.”She suffered bruises and scratches.
Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
