VANCOUVER, Wash. — The life of Jesus has been told many times and in many ways. Recently Vancouver-based Bluewater Productions released a fresh retelling of the teachings of Christ in a biographical comic book.

The inaugural issue of Bluewater’s Faith series featuring Jesus, which became available at local comic book shops, Christian bookstores and various online outlets on May 12, is part of a new series featuring the biographies of various biblical and religious figures and designed for readers of all ages.

“The book highlights different aspects of the life of Christ to show that Jesus of Nazareth was more than just a great man in history, but proof of a providential force at work in the universe,” said issue author Don Smith.

According to Bluewater President Darren Davis, “This book is for and about those who inspire faith … I want Faith to be seen as a tool that spreads the best messages of religion: love, tolerance, harmony and respect. I want it to be a learning tool as much as a fascinating read with excellent artwork.”

The new issue, written by Smith, features the art of Jacob Bear and a special cover by well-regarded Christian artist Mike S. Miller.

The follow-up issue of Faith featuring King David is due in stores in September. Industry veteran Nate Watson is both writer and artist for that issue.

Bluewater Productions Inc. is one of the top independent production studios of comic books, young adult books and graphic novels. In addition to various fiction comics, Bluewater also publishes a highly successful line of biographical comics under the titles Female Force, focusing on influential women in society and popular culture, and Political Power, on prominent political figures.
