Luis Palau Book Available at Beijing Olympics

BEIJING, China, August 4 /Christian Newswire/ — A book co-written by American evangelist Luis Palau will be distributed to athletes and the media during the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, according to the Oregon based Luis Palau Association. “A Friendly Dialogue between An Atheist and A Christian” – a collaboration with Chinese scholar, scientist and diplomat Zhao Qizheng – was launched in 2006 at the Beijing International Book Fair and quickly became a national best-seller in China.

In an historic arrangement, Chinese publisher New World Press has provided thousands of copies of the English version of “A Friendly Dialogue” and made them available at the Olympic Games Main Press Center and Exhibition Hall. It is also being distributed to journalists at the Beijing International Media Center and at newsstands in the Olympic Village, designated Olympic Games hotels, and the Beijing International Airport.

Palau and Zhao began their conversations in May of 2005 when the evangelist was visiting China as part of a delegation of American business, cultural and spiritual leaders. Their initial conversations were so broad, cordial and engaging that they agreed to record and transcribe future exchanges for a book that might build bridges of communication and mutual understanding. Topics included philosophy, history, religion, science, the Bible, politics, ethics and Christianity.

“The true spirit of the Olympics – mutual respect and friendship – was at the heart of ‘A Friendly Dialogue’ from the beginning,” said Luis Palau. “That we can share those conversations, which include a straightforward proclamation of the Gospel, at the Olympic Games is an incredible blessing and honor.”

Luis Palau has presented the Gospel to more than a billion people through his global ministry, including more than 25 million face-to-face in 72 countries. He is heard on radio by millions more on 2600+ outlets in 42 nations. His ministry has produced large evangelistic events from south Florida to South America, including a recent festival in Buenos Aires that drew close to 900,000 people.

“A Friendly Dialogue between An Atheist and a Christian” was recently published in English and Spanish by Zondervan Publishing and is available at bookstores everywhere or online at
