The Blind Side movie is making powerful impact on audience and actress Sandra Bullock
By Beaver Believer,
The miracle movie of the year is the film The Blind Side — a true life underdog story filled with heroic and spiritual themes. The story itself is a miracle. Veteran NBC Sports host, Cris Collinsworth, said this week it was one of the greatest sports stories he has ever witnessed. The movie has been a surprise hit grossing $34 million in the first week — a blockbuster return for a such a small film. Something amazing happened in the second week. Audiences traditionally drop 50% in the second week, but instead of losing audiences the film actually gained, as ticket sales it surged 18% higher. At the same time the Twilight craze movie, New Moon, dropped 70% during the same second week. This rare second wind is a direct result of the movie having widespread emotional impact among movie goers who are pushing their friends to see it.
The story has even made a positive Christian impression with actress Sandra Bullock who played the real-life devout Christian woman, Leigh Anne Tuohy, who helped turn an abandoned teen into a football star. Here is what Bullock said about Leigh Anne Touhy to the Associated Press, “She was so open and honest and forthright, and I said, wow, I finally met someone who practices but doesn’t preach. Whereas…before I was like, do not give me a lecture on how to live my life when I know I’m a pretty decent human being, “I might not go to church everyday, but I know I do the right thing or try to. You’re going to church and you’re still sleeping around on your wife…how are you better than I am? So I finally met people who walk the walk.”
I watched the movie this weekend and was deeply touched. This is a film worth spreading the word about.
