Tax bill hits church for running day care

The First Presbyterian Church in Boise received an eye-opening $17,.000 tax bill in the mail. The surprise tax bill comes from the YMCA partnership the church has. The YMCA leases space from the church at $9,500 a month and say they are just providing a community service. The County Tax Assessor says that as long as the church is leasing out space it must pay property taxes because it is considered unrelated business income. Right now the case is being appealed to the state tax appeals board. The video below has more.
