People think that all the homeless need is a little helping hand. When drugs are involved it can make doing charity work outright dangerous.
An elderly Seaside man who tried to help a homeless teenager wound up beaten with a chain and padlock, stabbed in the lung, and left for dead in his garage, according to KATU News. The 80-year-old victim told police he had seen the teenager around McDonald’s in Astoria three or four times and purchased food for him. But on Oct. 27, the 18-year-old boy, Isaiah James Thompson, contacted the victim, asking if he could buy him drugs. He drove the teen to his home, gave him a beer, and let him shower. But when he entered his garage, the teenager hit him in the face 20 or 30 times and stabbed him in the lung before stealing his Ford Mustang. He drove more than 100 mph and crashed the car, fleeing on foot. Police arrested Thompson on charges of attempted murder, robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon and booked him into the Clatsop County Jail.
