New Outreach Launches in East Multnomah County

By Transitional Youth

April — This month Transitional Youth launched a new kind of outreach in Rockwood; one of the most underserved communities in the state of Oregon.

Linking arms with local churches, the city of Gresham and other nonprofits, Transitional Youth will be doing weekly outreaches to fill in much needed gaps to serve children, youth and young adults.

We would like to invite you to join us in this journey!  Do you (or someone you know) have a space for rent we can set up a clothing closet or thrift store (boutique)? Or possible another Braking Cycles coffee and bike shop??  Would you like to join our Outreach team once a week or month?  Would you like to donate food, clothing, socks, hygiene items, shoes, or backpacks? If you have a heart to serve, we have a place to plug you in!

Who we are — Transitional Youth works to bring hope and healthy transformation to at-risk youth in Oregon and Washington.  We believe relationship is key to discipleship.  It starts with a meal, a conversation, and unconditional high regard. It’s estimated there are 500 homeless youth in downtown Portland alone.  There are hundreds more across the metro area and even more aging out of foster care and other youth agencies. The reasons behind these kinds of family dynamic breakdowns are complex; from drug addiction, generational poverty and gang involvement, mental health issues, increased costs of living and cuts in support services.
