Press Release,

Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (OR-05) was presented with the Salvation Army’s 2023 Fight for Good Award, a recognition given to members of Congress who champion legislation to alleviate poverty. Last year, Chavez-DeRemer’s HOME Act passed the House with broad bipartisan support. The proposal would help lift veterans out of homelessness by supporting nonprofit organizations, like the Salvation Army, that provide transitional housing.

“I’m humbled and honored to receive the Salvation Army’s Fight for Good Award. I’m grateful for their tireless efforts to serve those in need, and I promise to continue being a strong partner in advancing their mission of investing in the long-term growth and success of our communities,” Chavez-DeRemer said.

Since 2018, the Fight For Good Awards have been presented to federal policymakers who demonstrate exceptional leadership and champion federal policies supporting the Salvation Army’s mission to alleviate poverty throughout the United States. Chavez-DeRemer was chosen for the award due to her efforts to recognize the value of government, private sector, and faith-based organizations, like The Salvation Army.
