Church does guns to gardens

By Oregon Faith News Note,

Antioch Church in Bend seeks to swap gunpowder for power gardens by urging gun owners to surrender weapons so they can turn them into garden tools. Although headlines shout about mass shootings, more victims of gunshots die of accidents and suicides, according to organizers of the drive-through Guns to Garden event in April. The purpose is to curtail the number of guns in homes, thereby reducing gun violence, according to the Central Oregon Daily News. A similar event in 2023 brought in 70 firearms. Organizers offered thank-you gift cards to those who donated—$100 for shotguns and hunting rifles, $200 for handguns, and $300 for assault rifles.
