You may possess the voice of an angel and a talent for strumming the guitar and playing piano, but if you’re not within weight limits, you may not wish to join the worship team at New Creation Church in Hillsboro. According to guidelines posted online, but since deleted, the church required people seeking to serve on the worship team to have “no excessive weight” and take care of their temple by exercising and eating properly, according to an article in The Gospel Herald. The guidelines, which their pastor said have been posted online for a long time and are no longer enforced, also included rules for good hygiene and proper dress to bring honor and glory to God. A copy of the guidelines posted on the Facebook page Stuff Christian Culture Likes drew nearly 300 comments with 27 shares.
