Archbishop of Portland Alexander K. Sample to lead Corpus Christi Procession through Northwest Portland on Sunday, June 22
Portland, Ore – On Sunday, June 22 the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, which celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
In this Jubilee Year of Hope, proclaimed by our late Holy Father Pope Francis, Archbishop Alexander K. Sample has invited all Catholics to publicly celebrate their Eucharistic faith with processions at designated pilgrimage sites across the Archdiocese.
In Portland, the Eucharistic Procession will start in front of St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1716 NW Davis Street, at 3:30 pm after 2 pm Mass. The route will proceed north on NW 18th Avenue, then turn east on NW Flanders Street, continuing for several blocks through the Pearl District. The procession will then head south on NW 11th Avenue and return to the Cathedral via NW Couch Street.
Other Processions throughout the Archdiocese include:
— Salem: St. Vincent de Paul, starting after the 2 pm Mass
— Eugene/Springfield: St. Mary starting at 2 pm
— Medford/Central Point: Sacred Heart starting at 3 pm
