Luis Palau Facebook,
Can it really have been five years since our father, Luis Palau, went to be with the Lord? Few days ever pass without me thinking of him in some way.
Great memories of being with him all over the world, from childhood on—with a common denominator of Dad joyfully, winsomely, and clearly sharing the Good News of Jesus. In front of large crowds, yes. But also one-on-one with maids, servers, and cab drivers. Dad loved the Lord, and he loved people. Not just as a group or in theory; he cared for and centered whoever God brought his way.
I remember principles he shared and modeled in front of my brothers and me:
– “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and God will provide everything that you need.”
– Start the day in God’s Word and prayer. I can’t remember Dad ever doing otherwise.
– Honor the Lord with all He provides and be a wise steward of it. Save 10% of all that you make, and give 10% back to the Lord (as a starting point).
Dad was the “real deal” in a world where so many leaders struggled to live out in private the teaching they shared in public. I miss Dad very much. But it’s a joy to look back at his life, all the way to the finish line, as one lived with integrity. He was determined to serve Jesus and fulfill his calling as an evangelist.
Now my brothers and I have the privilege of continuing to proclaim the Good News, unite the Church, and activate believers worldwide—in ways even beyond what Dad was able to experience on this side of eternity.
May we all, with our own unique gifts and calling from the Lord, seek to finish our days like Luis did—with joy, humility and a desire to hear that “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
