Mosque prayer interrupted by gunman

By Oregon Faith News Note,

Many members of the Abu-Baker Islamic Center in Northeast Portland remained shaken and afraid after a man in a hoodie with gloves and a mosque cap recently disrupted the end of morning prayers, shouting Allahu Akbar several times before saying, “If you stand up, you die” or “people die today.” After the man left, worshippers locked the door, but he banged on it several times, demanding entrance, and remained outside the mosque at Northeast 80th and Burnside as people left, according to KGW. Nobody was hurt, but the mosque released a statement describing the behavior as deeply concerning and noting many people are shaken and afraid. Portland Police promised to investigate the possible bias incident. Information about the case, No. 26-85333, can be shared at [email protected].
