The Cascade Division of the Salvation Army, headquartered in Happy Valley, Ore., has received an impact award for its work providing transitional housing and meals for people in need, according to The Portland Business Journal. The organizations provides compassionate care for vulnerable residents by making a difference, one human being at a time. Bridgeway of Hope helps men maintain sobriety, the VFC houses veterans and their families, and the West Women’s & Children Shelter assists domestic violence victims. Providing families with access to food and shelter helps them stay in jobs and care for their children, stated the Salvation Army, which served 22,357 people in Portland last year with nearly 200,000 meals, 161,116 shelter nights, and 18,614 food boxes.
