Trinity Episcopal Church, which started 175 years ago in a log cabin at Southwest Second Avenue and Oak Street in Portland, celebrated its anniversary in May by welcoming former clergy and congregants to its church on Nob Hill at 147 N.W. 19th Ave. Eight years before Oregon became a state, Episcopalians formed Trinity Church on May 18, 1851, and only six days later, on May 24, the St. Paul Episcopal Church was established in Oregon City, according to The Oregonian/OregonLive. Today known as Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the church growing alongside the city of Portland welcomes everyone—agnostics, atheists, doubters and believers—and offers world-class Anglican choral music and educational programming. Between 300 and 400 people attend services on Sunday mornings.
